Approached through a long alley of pines and opening to a grassy court, this project brings an articulated progression towards the existing dwelling. Taking advantage of existing site conditions, one approaches the main house and carport through an existing alley of white pines, giving the driveway a more formalized welcome. As a visitor drives down the new driveway there are brief glimpses of the house, but the views continually shift between the trees until you clear the alley and park. We used the idea of shifting views to create a skin of screen panels that would feel light and transparent while the spacing of the individual pieces would obscure your views to parked cars.
