To us, crafting something special and tailor-fitted is where we can really begin to benefit a space, and we’re constantly exploring the outer limits of what is possible from our materials.
The push & pull between the mental image of what could be and the hand-work needed to bring it into existence is a challenging intersection, and it’s where we thrive.

These precise solutions breathe life into the overarching design. The small details that clients interact with everyday take the ordinary to extraordinary. We spend a great deal of time building out our framework and studying material, but we found that it is equally important to become skilled at the follow-through.
When we can fulfill a dream, a detail, and a plan seamlessly that’s really when our custom products begin to sing in a way that nothing off the shelf can.
It’s about taking an idea all the way to the end and tackling challenges head on.
It’s about a close relationship with our artisans and our hands and about the tiny daily joys in the touch of a line, a corner, or a curve.
It’s about a place all one’s own, with all the oddities and rarities to demonstrate it.
ARTISTRY
Through exploration and diverse experimentation, Calico’s repertoire of skills and techniques is always expanding. Our Studio takes a fierce stance of collaboration and growth and, as such, we often find ourselves in more of an ecosystem than an office.
There really wouldn’t be a point of doing all this if we weren’t learning and there isn’t much point to learning without sharing and teaching what you’ve gained. We want to be an active part of our local community, and we’re lucky enough to be able to invite the outside world in.
Our campus is a fertile testing ground and, at times, even a playground. We’re always looking to lean into this, and the Creates side of the house is our sandbox. Take some time to visit our calicocreates.com website to see some ways we tap into our creativity.
Small-scale problems of construction and form teach us lessons we take to our build sites. Themes of reuse and regeneration in both our farms and our crafts can offer us sparks of ingenuity when drafting at our desks. A home and what lives inside it coexist comfortably on our sketchbook page.
